Nicholas Sparks responded to reports he tried to stop an LGBTQ student organization from forming a school he co-founded.The writer released a lengthy statement Monday.Sparks said he is "an unequivocal supporter of gay marriage, gay adoption, and equal employment rights.He said he "would never want to discourage any young person or adult from embracing who they are."The emails between Sparks and a former headmaster were published by The Daily Beast on Thursday.They show Sparks calling for the ban of a "gay club." He also made comments about the school's diversity.The former headmaster sued Sparks and the school's Board of Trustees in 2014, for discrimination, breach of contract.
